Equestrian Athlete Services

It is important to look after yourself as well as your horse as your positioning can affect the horse's balance and performance. If you can fine tune your positioning, core stability and balance, it allows for clear and effective communication to your horse to get the best out of your equine performance, whether that be in competition or day to day riding. It is not just injuries or riding asymmetries but normal horse and yard management that may cause muscle imbalances. As part of looking after your horse, it is important to look after yourself to help prevent injury and imbalance within the partnership.

Have you ever wondered if you are crooked, out of balance or weaker or tighter on one side? If you are, it may be altering your effectiveness in the saddle and your horses way of going, potentially blocking their freedom of movement. Perhaps you find some riding movements or aids difficult to perform?

Biomechanical Rider Assessment & mot

A biomechanical rider assessment is an off-horse unmounted comprehensive assessment from top to toe, looking at biomechanical movement, joint range of movement, muscle length, strength, balance and stability.

We will then create a personalised exercise and stretch program to help correct the imbalances. This can run alongside any indicated manual therapy, taping, soft tissue release or even acupuncture treatment. This will improve rider effectiveness and performance to allow for clear and effective aids, avoiding unnecessary movement, thus helping maintain a consistent light contact with the horses mouth and the ability to adopt a correct position in the saddle with a seat independent of the reins, for a happy horse.

All of these can be done in the comfort of your own home or even yard!

We also offer rider assessment clinics at your venue where there is multiple interest.

On Horse Biomenchanical Ridden Assessment

Following the testt method by andy thomas

This is an on horse ridden assessment allowing for immediate rider treatment and immediate results to be felt.

For this I observe you riding simple movements or as you would normally ride, wearing the visualise jacket to look at your positioning and any imbalances.

This is followed by a modified off horse streamlined assessment and treatment of key areas.

The session will finish on board your horse again to observe and feel changes resulting from your treatment. Franklin balls, bands and taping may be used to consolidate these changes.

This may include video analysis/photos to document changes. It is not an assessment of your riding ability or level, more your bodies ability to perform the correct rider aids/postures.
